Here at Agatinia we make it no secret how much we love the fabric Cupro, so much so that it’s the star of our brand new collection! This sustainable silk alternative is taking the green fashion world by storm for its practicality and irresistible soft-to-the-touch feel. Need to brush up on your Cupro knowledge? We’ve got you covered. In our latest blog post, we take a deep dive into the world of Cupro, the benefits and why we’ve dedicated our latest drop of intimates to this incredible fabric.
What is Cupro?
Cupro is a fabric made from cotton linter; soft fibers enveloping the cotton seed. These minuscule and silky fibers are usually discarded as they are far too small to be spun into material. To create Cupro, these fibers are soaked in a mixture of copper and ammonium before being spun into a material fiber. While in this state, our factory removes all animal protein from the production lines to achieve a silk-like look and feel without the use of animal by-products. They use Asahi Kasei’s production process allowing a zero-waste policy and closed-loop manufacturing which fully recovers all solvents. Any cellulosic waste is used as fuel to generate electricity.

The benefits of Cupro:
Easy to care for
The properties of Cupro make it extremely easy to care for. Not only is it an extremely durable fabric, but it is also resistant to wear and tear from regular washing. In fact, washing only makes Cupro softer and more comfortable with each wear.
Kind to skin
Unlike some fabrics that can be abrasive and rough against the skin, Cupro feels as soft as normal silk and possesses all the same qualities when it comes to skincare. The gentle touch of this material prevents pull and tugging on the skin, helping prevent the onset of wrinkles and fine lines in later life.
Environmentally friendly
Undoubtedly one of the best things about Cupro is that it is such a sustainable alternative to silk. This fabric we use is completely vegan, cruelty-free, biodegradable, takes less water to grow fibres and has eco-label certifications. Cupro is truly a material that is kind to our planet in every way.
The best alternative to silk
If you’re looking for a silk alternative that protects animal and environmental rights, it doesn’t get much better than our Cupro. This material has all the thermal effects of silk, so it’s warm in the winter and also cool to wear in the summer. Cupro is also antistatic and sensual and soft to the touch.

Our new intimates collection uses Cupro to create sensual garments that make you feel your best with every wear. Handmade in Poland, each piece has been designed for those who long for the silky feeling of fabric on their bare skin in those luxury moments.
